fat bully's page
This page is an overview of our Porsche 928 race car, Fat Bully. This car has been an on-going project. We bought it to turn it into a show car, but somewhere along the line we did a trackday, a few time trials and decided to turn our 928 into a full-on race car. Dumb move, eh?
We are thankful to everyone who helped us throughout our labour of love in building this car. People who gave advice, worked at reduced rates, gave us discounts and stuff for free, listened to our odd requests and moans & groans, assisted us through trial and error and to everyone in general who helped us build and develop this car.
Below is a list of mods we've done and the people we would like to thank. If your name or company is not listed here, we haven't forgotten you, we just need to update this page soon and you will be included.
| how it all started This car started life as an '83 Porsche 928S, Euro spec. We bought the car in '01 and immediately set out restoring and customizing it. before photos |

engine & chassis The engine is pretty much standard, Mario at M&R Motors fitted new injectors, big-ends and rings, heads were gas-flowed, pushing 330hp at the flywheel. We discovered the driver's side chassis-leg was bent, so we stripped it bare and started from scratch on a chassis jig. |

gearbox & diff We bought this car with a suspect gearbox, most of the syncro's were stuffed and it wasn't long before we lost 2nd and 3rd. New gearbox and GTS short shifter have since been installed, as well as a clutch-type limited slip diff. |

suspension & brakes After trial and error and countless hours on the shock dyno, Mario and Ted finally came up with a set-up that will probably make this car handle better than any 928 on South African race tracks. |

bodywork The wide body was conceived and designed by Pierre. A heck of a lot of research was done on aerodynamics, downforce and cooling ducts for the engine and brakes. |

rims & tyres Who said you can't have bling wheels on a track car?
On this page you can view our current and past set-ups and the stories behind them. |

interior The interior has been gutted, the stock wiring loom replaced and we've constructed a carbon fibre dash. We're busy cleaning things up and prepping to install the roll cage and other bare necessities. |
