250 superkart racing

the ultimate high is only one inch off the ground

On this page you can follow our shenanigans in the local 250 Superkart racing series.

We got involved in 250 Superkarts in the beginning of June '05 when Pierre was invited to drive a 250 superkart in the 2005 Kyalami round of the local Superkart championship.

Taking home one last trophy from a track I hate. more

250 superkart vs formula gti

With almost two seasons under the belt in 250 karts I got an itch to try something else in the way of single seater wings & slicks racing, so when the opportunity to test a Formula GTi presented itself, I grabbed it with both hands. more

wesbank august 18 & 19, 2007

This time round I decided to at least try and work the track out, instead of just circulating like a zombie. In the end I managed to keep my nose clean and got myself on the podium again, but some other drivers were not as fortunate… more

zwartkops july 28, 2007

Zwartkops was resurfaced recently and very slippery. Most car racers I spoke to said they gained a second a lap on used rubber a weekend or two ago, so I slapped on my race tyres from the previous race... more

The bastards wouldn’t let me take another win this weekend, but I managed to scrape the barrel for the final spot on the podium... more

aldo scribante may 12, 2007

How does qualifying on the front row and cleaning up in heat one sound for starters? more

wesbank april 14, 2007

Hrumpfff. Couldn’t get my head straight, had no rhythm to speak of and my lap times were as erratic as peace in the Middle East, so I qualified way off pace in 8th spot.

zwartkops march 17, 2007

Tony stuck his nose up on my inside into the hairpin a few times. I left him room, but he couldn’t make it stick. I wasn't worried though, I knew I could slap him back into place down the back straight. more

250 superkart race report - welkom mar 3, 2007

Despite my best efforts I wasn’t able to have the new karts ready in time for the opening round of the 2007 season. I’ve been fortunate to be at race tracks just about every weekend this year, testing race Porsches for Mario and whatnot, but that’s another story. Let’s just say I’m a lazy bum and didn’t work on the karts as often as I should have in the off-season. race report from welkom

speed & sound article -

Speed & Sound did an article on our kart in the December '06 issue. It was written by a car guy who had no clue about Superkarts, or karts in general for that matter! Well, he does now after it dusted the S&S track-prepped M3.

250 superkart race report - wesbank nov 4, 2006

By the time we reached the banked oval on lap one I had Giles Moore and Vergil Pappas about ten metres in front of me. Giles was all over Vergil and I knew he was gonna take him at the first best opportunity. race report from wesbank

250 superkart race report - kyalami sep 23, 2006

This story actually starts at another time and place. It starts with the coming together I had with Sean Moore at the last Zwartkops meet.
race report from kyalami

zwartkops july 29, 2006

Ugh. I don't know where to start. A race day marred by stupidity, bad luck, mediocre driving on my part and ultimately a wrecked kart...
race report from zwartkops

phakisa july 08, 2006

The mid-season break of almost two months between PE and Welkom gave us a fair amount of time to think things over and plan for the remainder of the '06 season.

aldo scribante may 13, 2006

Sean Moore made one of his trucks available to transport our karts to PE and and we hopped on a plane and flew to PE like a bunch of works drivers. the scribate party

zwartkops april 22, 2006

Race one, Lap one. Tall order coming from the back of the grid. Thankfully most of the field were easy meat. more

wesbank april 8 & 9, 2006

Sean swerved left to avoid the dust and smacked into me pretty hard. I just kept my right foot planted and hooked the next gear as I landed. Phew! report from wesbank

welkom march 4, 2006

Every single person in the pit area cracked up laughing at the sight of us arriving at the track on Saturday morning with hangovers the size of Texas. I qualified in tenth spot. say no more

prepping for the 2006 season

Well, it looks like we're in for a great season. We were getting ready to build a new kart for the '06 season, but Veron Pappas landed a drive in the Wesbank V8 Challenge this year. That means he won't be racing Superkarts this year. One thing lead to another and his '03 & '04 championship winning kart now belongs to us. more

not many people get to drive a 250 superkart

The SA 250 Superkart ASS thought it would be a good thing to have a PR day after the last race of the season and invite some very fortunate people to drive our karts.

This was our first "away race" with the shopping trolley. Can you say road trip and plenty booze?! race report from PE

wesbank - june 18, 2005

I was full of hope and expectations to do better than my sixth place at Kyalami a couple of weeks ago... race report from wesbank

first driving impressions

Pierre always wanted to drive one of these little rockets, and here's the opportunity now... Time to dust off those leathers, remove the knee sliders and see if he can squeeze into them. zwartkops test session
